World Community Grid - View Thread - BOINC: "Notices" receipts in client.

BOINC 6.12 has the "Messages" tab removed in the "Advanced View", now listed as "Event log" in the Advanced menu, which can be reached quickly with the key combination Ctrl+Shift+E. What has come instead is the "Notices" tab which shows worthwhile news items from the project with a link to the full news item. Also in that screen will be messages of importance, informing of possible actions required by the member. Here a sample:

The "important user action needed messages" part is still under development though.

The frequency of these notice fetches can be controlled via "Display and network options..." on the Tools menu of the Advance View of BOINC Manager. A Systray balloon will advice of any new arrivals, but it does then require for the BOINC Manager to be minimized to the system tray area of the start bar in Windows. These notices are automatically removed after 30 days from release.

Notably, in the BOINC Manager Simple view, which in 6.12 received a make-over, the left hand bottom "Messages" button actually leads to the Notices view.
