Re: "The survivors"

NAP2614, welcome back!

I backed out Java 7 on my laptop, it was the only PC not running Java 6.
There seems to be a lot of security problems with Java.

Re: "The survivors"

I finally upgraded BOINC from 7.0.25 to 7.0.28 cause i got tired of ignoring the "There is a new version of BOINC available.." message every time i started up in the morning.
Whoopee.. an upgrade of 0.0.03 versions. (at least that upgrade nag is gone.)

Except, now i've got a new nag .... "9/5/2012 7:49:13 AM | | Unrecognized tag in cc_config.xml: <zero_debts>"
it seems the uninstall / new install left the old cc_config.xml file instead of writing a new default one.
There's this here about it over at BOINC website: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=7685

so i will be editing out this line in the cc_config file <zero_debts>0</zero_debts>

always something to do. biggrin

Re: "The survivors"

It's going to be close for me with CFSW, since the dashboard nows gives it 9 days left (but it's been going down by an average of 3 days per day). I have temporarily turned on my machine at work, so I am averaging about 20 CPU days per day, and have a 7 day cache on all machines. I need at least 2 more days of WU's coming in plus my 7 day cache to have even a chance of making sapphire.

Re: "The survivors"

caveat emptor,
If you decide to upgrade to Windows 8 you have to go to the BOINC website to get the latest version as WCG doesn't have it at this time.
Make sure your BOINC version is compatible with Windows 8 or you will have a mess to deal with..

Re: "The survivors"

Stopped closely watching results because of the server instability.
In the last couple of days while I was not watching I picked up some HCC GPU BETAs:on one PC with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 GPU.
CPU Average=0.05
95=Valid
3=PV
12=Errors
Nothing yet for the ATI GPUs.

Also noticed that I passed 5,000,000 BOINC Credits yesterday.

There is a lot less stress on autopilot.

Re: "The survivors"

If you decide to upgrade to Windows 8...

Never gonna happen! (How many ways can you say 'Ugly')?

I've gotten 5 HCC GPU Betas in the last few days.
1 worked perfectly, ran in 3 min, 39 secs,
1 ran but didn't complete, until i did snooze/unsnooze, than it re-ran from the beginning, and completed in 3 min 41.
2 ran for >1hr, with zero GPU usage, and were aborted, Interestingly, these were _3 with a return time of < 24 hrs, so they didn't work elsewhere, either.
The last just errored out right away. Batting 2/5. biggrin

Edit: i7-860 with AMD Radeon HD 5770

Re: "The survivors"

I had 12 errors:
<snip>
INFO: gpu_type not found in init_data.xml.
INFO: GPU device not specified in init_data.xml. Checking Commandline.
ERROR: GPU device not specified in init_data.xml or on command line. Exiting.
04:06:35 (6304): called boinc_finish

There are 96 validated tasks therefore do not think it is my problem.
Here is a good one for comparison:
